Please come and give the gift of life ... Blood drive scheduled from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 12 at St. Joseph's

In 2007, Kori Bird of Naperville gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, her fifth child, Elizabeth Kay.  Moments after delivering, however, the doctor was unable to stop Kori's bleeding.   They struggled for several hours to stop the stabilize her. During the ordeal, the mom received  four units of whole blood, six units of plasma, several units of platelets, and other treatments to help her blood clot.

Kori nearly lost her life several times during surgery.  Afterward, she spent three days in ICU and received several additional blood transfusions.

Thanks to the unselfish generosity of anonymous blood donors, this mother of five was given the

“gift of life" and can continue to watch her children grow. Please consider giving this most precious gift to save someone like Kori.

Nearly 5 million Americans would die each year without life-saving blood transfusions ... Please come and give this awesome gift Sept. 12 at St. Joseph's. Call 815-939-3573 to sign-up ... And, walk-ins are welcome too. (Nervous about giving blood? Click here for some reassurance!)

This time Heartland is giving fleece pullovers and Zippo candle lighters to our donors.

Proceeds from Knights' first breakfast buffet, Sept. 19, to benefit very worthwhile cause!!

The parish Knights of Columbus will be starting up their regular “all you can eat” breakfast buffets Sept. 19 in the St. Joseph Parish hall. Please plan to come for the BEST breakfast you may EVER have. The September breakfast will be a fundraiser for Brookelyn Corbin, daughter of parishioners Dan Corbin and Jamie Kodis of Bradley. The little 1-year-old spent 9 months in Loyola’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit fighting for her life while enduring many procedures and tests as a result of Bacterial Meningitis. Her young parents are struggling with the overwhelming costs of life-long medical care for her.  Please join us for a great breakfast for a very special little girl! If you are unable to attend, you can still make a donation. Click here to learn more about Brookelyn and to find out how you can help her family. Thanks so much for your support!

Manna gift cards are available after the Sunday morning Masses and on Thursday and Friday afternoons at the St. Joseph School entryway. There's something for everyone!

You can shop, dine out, rent movies, fill your gas tank, get treats, grab a Starbucks and so much more with Manna gift cards ... All while financially supporting the parish.

Click here for the latest order form. Print it, fill it out and bring it with you when you buy your cards ... Forms are certainly on-hand at the parish too.  Click here for more details about this program and to see all the participating businesses.

You can't go before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament without being changed !!

Come and join us in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. Anyone can stop by, at anytime during the Tuesday adoration period to spend some time with the Lord ... But, there is also a need for more regularly scheduled adorers.

Please commit to a specific time, whether for an hour or half hour. The Blessed Sacrament must never be left alone, so we need people to sign-up to help us continue to offer this beautiful devotion.  For information, please call Sharon Monty, coordinator, 815-932-663 or 815-954-4922.

Diocese of Joliet, Year of the Eucharist 2010-2011
Eucharistic Congress, June 26, 2011

Year of the Eucharist: "Bread of Life, Covenant of Love" is a 15-month event in the Diocese of Joliet, which began April 1, 2010 (Holy Thursday) and will continue until June 26, 2011(the feast of The Body and Blood of Christ). The overall goal is to bring about spiritual renewal in the Diocese of Joliet through the Eucharist and all liturgical life. St. Patrick in Kankakee, St. Anne in St. Anne and Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Ashkum are places in our area that have been designated as pilgrimage churches. These are among the more than 20 parishes in the diocese selected as pilgrimage churches in honor of the Year of the Eucharist. Many thanks to the CCW for their beautiful tribute to married life!

With the national divorce rate hovering around 50 percent and the Kankakee County average even higher, the parish Council of Catholic Women decided it was time to recognize and honor married couples and spotlight the holiness of the sacrament of marriage.

After months of planning, the group sponsored an Anniversary Mass July 11 with a nice reception afterward in the parish hall. During the special observance, which was held during the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass, Father Tony invited all married couples to stand and receive a blessing. Click here for the audio.

Mementos, including wedding pictures of parishioners, were displayed at the reception. Those who attended the festivities after the Mass looked at the photos, enjoyed some fruit and punch, reminisced and got acquainted with people around them. It really was a lovely event and a testament to the married couples of St. Joseph’s.

Our Appreciation Weekend ... Loads of fun, fellowship and food!!

The parish's annual Appreciation Weekend was held June 12-13. Ministers and volunteers were spotlighted and received special blessings during each of the Masses. Click here for audio of this special blessing. Celebrations in honor of these dedicated men and women were held in the courtyard. (A downpour didn't dampen our spirits ... The Saturday festivities were moved inside the school). Thanks to all who make St. Joseph's that special place for us to meet the Lord. Click here to watch the slide show that was prepared for this event and viewed by those who stopped by the tent! It showcases parish events and celebrations since last year's Appreciation Weekend. The accompanying music is from our parish ensembles and school choir.

In addition, numerous parishioners have yet to include their e-mail addresses in their contact information.

We want to keep the lines of communication as open as possible ...

All parishioners are asked to please send us an e-mail so we can make sure we have your correct address on file.

Please send e-mails to: pstorer@stjosephbradley.org.
